1. The beginning of the idea

Piedi During the World Youth Day in Cologne in August 2005 took place the meeting of the Pallottine youth groups. To Rheinbach (next to Bonn) came more than 300 young people from different countries: Brazil, Canada, USA, India, Cameroon, Spain, Poland, Croatia, Slovakia, Ireland, Austria and of course from Germany.
At that time arose the idea to continue and to encourage such kind of meetings. The Pallottine communities exist in almost fifty countries around the world, including at least fifteen countries in Europe. During the conversations it became clear that the best place for such meeting will be Rome.
Rome is the city were the culture of many countries of Europe and the world was born. There is no wonder that millions of pilgrims and tourists come to Rome until today. The important centre of Christianity and different religious congregations exist in Rome. It was in Rome that the Founder of the “Pallottine Familly”, St. Vincent Pallotti, spent all his life.
Till now there were two Meetings of the Pallottine Youth organised in Rome:
- The First Pallottine Youth Forum 2006
- The Second Pallottine Youth Forum 2007
- The Third Pallottine Youth Forum 2008
- The Fourth Pallottine Youth Forum 2009

We’d like to invite you for the Fifth one 7th-13th August 2010.

2. The Idea

S. Pietro

What is the scope of the meeting?

- To come to know and meet people from different cultures
- To visit important places in Rome
- To experience the Universal Church and its institutions
- To come to know and understand the life-vision of St. Vincent Pallotti.

We assume that from different countries will come groups of 4-10 young people. The whole number should not be higher then 70. Such group can together move in the city with the public means under the guidance of one person. Apart from this, after one week the particip

ants can know each other and develop the feeling of belonging to one

community It is important that the participants are creative and active at the preparation of the meeting.

1. Each group should prepare before coming a multimedia presentation about one chosen place (church, monument, etc.) in Rome which is important for the history of their country and the Church in their region. During the meeting in Rome each group will present the prepared material to other participants. The duration of the presentation should be about 30 minutes.

2. We will visit together the place chosen by the group. The stay in the place should be well prepared and arranged by the responsible group (for ex: some songs, prayer, encounter with other persons, etc). The duration of the visit to the place will depend on the situation and the numbers of other meetings.

3. One morning or afternoon we will dedicate to the meeting in one of the Vatican Congregations. In this way we can know better how it works and what is the worldwide institution of the Catholic Church. If the Holy Father stays at that time in Rome we want to go to the audience.

4. One day we dedicate to walk in the footsteps of St. Vincent Pallotti who lived and worked in the heart of Rome.

5. Each participant will receive a handbook with the liturgical texts, description of the places etc. in 6 languages. Everybody will be able to understand the contents of the program and to communicate with the others.

3. Conditions for particiption

Gruppo

In the meeting can participate every young person who recommended by a Pallottine father, brother or sister. At the time of registration we ask you to give his or her name.

When minors want to come to Rome they should have the care of the responsible adults.

The meeting is international. Hence the knowledge of the foreign languages is very useful. The experience of the meeting in Rheinbach showed that the Pallottine groups managed the challenges of the four languages: English, German, Polish and Spanish. In Italy Italian can be useful.

We ask all the participants not to forget the travel insurance. The organizers will not guarantee such insurance.

4. Organisation

The meeting will take place in the Hause of the Pallottine Sisters in Rome.
